If you're not constrained by budget, why not hunt for the JBL L100 Classic re-release on used gear sites - they're probably ~$3K used, so not quite BudgetAudiophile, but better than $4400 new. I got quite used to the JBL's sound, and kept them, mainly because I had a wife, 2 kids, a mortgage, and a very demanding job.
